Clean Water for Haiti
This global Rotary project will provide water hygiene education, training, and water filters to approximately 1,100 homes in the communities of Pistere and Campeche in northern Haiti.
The project will be conducted in two phases:
Phase 1 – Will consist of approximately 100 homes and will commence on or around May 1, 2018, with a target completion date of September, 30, 2018. Projected costs for Phase 1 will be approximately $35,000 USD.
Phase 2 – Will target 1,000 homes and will commence on/about November 1, 2018, and will be implemented in multiple stages. Expected completion date for this phase will be about 24 months. Projected costs for Phase 2 will be approximately $300,000 USD.
Partners include the Rotary Clubs of Cap-Haitien (Host Club – District 7020) Haiti, Vermilion, Ohio (International Club – District 6600), with Elk Rapids, Michigan (supporting – District 6290), and Pure Water for the World (Cooperating Organization, Rutland, VT). Financial contributors include multiple Rotary Clubs from Districts 6290 and 6600, other Rotary Clubs nationally, and numerous churches and individuals.
Funding is already in place for Phase 1 and will not include a Rotary International Global Grant or District Designated Funds (DDF). Rotary Clubs are encouraged to contribute directly to the Rotary Club of Vermilion Charity Fund for Phase 1.
The Vermilion Rotary Club will be applying for a Rotary International Global Grant for Phase 2 only. Initial drafts of that grant are planned to be submitted early in 2018 once we have received final partner agreements which have already been tentatively accepted. Plans for DDF funding will be part of Phase 2.
All Rotary Clubs, within Districts 6600 and 6200 are encouraged to participate financially, most importantly for Phase 2.
